Cheating on your diet to get ahead on fat loss

rough psychologically. This is necessary in certain instances
if you are to shed pounds.
Sometimes it seems like an endless
road. Many people are so strict with their diet that they reach a
point where they cannot take it any more, and end up bingeing on
unsupportive foods.

Equating “healthy” with “good for fat loss"
Q: I eat healthy, but I’m not really
losing weight. Is there something wrong with me?
A: No, there’s nothing wrong with you. You just need to understand
what I’m going to tell you below, and apply it.
This is an important point to understand,
and it bears repeating: healthy does not mean good for fat loss! Nearly
100% of the clients that come to me with fat loss goals tell me
that they “eat a pretty healthy diet.”
This can have an extremely broad number of meanings:
It could mean that they are eating perfectly, and their metabolisms are
so damaged and sluggish that they need a great deal of exercise just to
get things going again.
It could mean that they eat healthy foods, and just eat too many
calories worth of those healthy foods.
It could mean that they eat foods that they have been told are healthy,
such as trail mix, granola, or Jamba Juice smoothies, but create a fat
storing environment.
I have found that the third meaning is the one that I encounter most. I
repeat: “Healthy” does not equate to “fat loss”!
Do you have to be healthy to maximize fat loss? Indeed you do, but
it does not require eating so-called “healthy” foods. Most of what is
advertised as healthy is actually high in calories and
sugar.
We’ve already explored how foods high in sugar create a negative
environment for fat loss to occur in.
The bottom line is this. If you want to lose weight, you need to burn
more calories than you’re taking in.
To burn more calories, you need to raise your metabolism through
resistance training and intense cardiovascular activity. You can burn
an extra 400-500 calories per day, 7 days per week by performing intense
training 3 Time Per Week!
There are also a multitude of ways of decreasing calorie intake (we go
over a lot of them in Dirty
Little Book of Dieting). If you were to stop drinking 2 Pepsi’s per
day, and instead drink the diet version, or sparkling green tea, or even
water *gasp*, you’d lower your calorie intake by 300 calories per day!
Add that up with the calories from your workouts, and you’ve lost 800
calories per day. 1 pound of fat is approximately 3,500 calories. If
you were to just do your exercise and eliminate those sugary drinks,
you’d lose a 1 ½ pounds per week. And that’s without even dieting!
