Cheating on your diet to get ahead on fat loss

Pitfall to fat loss: performing (too much) cardio
For fat loss, all that is required is a proper diet that controls blood sugar, and strength training, to ensure that the body does not get rid of muscle along with fat.
While this approach works in most cases, for some individuals whose metabolisms are highly damaged from years of dietary abuse some additional activity may be necessary.
The standard approach of performing “30 minutes to an hour of cardio 4-5 days per week” will literally get you nowhere fast with regards to fat loss; in fact, without proper nutrition to back it up, performing excessive cardio will only make you fatter in the long run!
Dramatically increasing activity volume coupled with curtailing food intake sends a clear signal to our prehistoric brains: “I’m starving and I can’t find any food!” Its response: to slow metabolism to a crawl and maintain fat stores.
As if that weren’t bad enough, each time you perform cardio exercise, your body becomes more and more efficient at performing the work.
In other words, you may previously have burned 100 calories running a mile, whereas running that same mile now only “costs” you 90 calories.
With each workout, you burn fewer and fewer calories because the movements become easier for your body to perform.
Instead of subjecting your body to potential overuse injuries and joint wear, decrease the cardio you do to the bare minimum needed to support your weight loss.
