Trying to Lose Weight Too Quickly

 

Most people want weight loss (and they want it yesterday!). 

 

Our bodies are incredibly efficient fat storage machines – a throwback to prehistoric times when food was scarce and the danger of starvation was a very real threat.  As a result, losing excess body fat is very low on the list of our body’s priorities

 

In fact, it is as low as it can get!  Any attempt at extreme short-term weight loss will trigger the body’s survival mode, making it impossible to lose stored fat.

 

The best strategy for fat loss is a long term approach centered on making smart choices consistently. Not only has this been clinically shown to result in greater amounts of fat loss, the long term approach will also help prevent regaining previously lost weight (aka “yo-yo dieting”).
