Have you built your "compulsion machine" of weight loss?

 

Most people have a hazy vision of what they’d like to accomplish.

 

They never sit down and figure out exactly what they want, and then make a map of exactly how they’re going to get there.  They also don’t create compelling enough reasons for themselves to follow through on the diet when the going gets tough.

 

As I’ve said before, it’s always easy at first because you’ve got all your resources and you’re not depleted yet.  You’re also on the adrenaline high of embarking on your new diet.

 

But, what happens 2 or 3 weeks in, when you’re out on a Friday night with friends and they’re all having beer and pizza? Do you have enough compelling reasons to overcome any craving?

 

To create compelling enough reasons (your compulsion machine), you’ll want to sit down with a pen and paper and get to work.  It’ll be worth it.

 

Get clear on what you want, whether your outcome is to lose 10 lbs, to have ripped abs, to look good in those jeans, whatever it may be. 

 

Get detailed in this list. Now, you must ask yourself why

 

Why do you want to lose those 10 lbs?

Why do you want to have ripped abs?

Why do you want to look good in those jeans?

 

Again, get detailed.

 

What benefit will you gain by achieving this specific goal you have?

 

Envision yourself there now. 

 

What else in your life has improved?

 

What has changed for the better in your job, your relationships, your happiness overall?

 

Now, it’s time to raise your standards

 

What will you not settle for anymore?  What’s holding you down that you will no longer accept?
